Bookable: run by Chi Phat Community-Based Ecotourism on published days
In short
Chi Phat’s village-run ecotourism project hosts visitors in homestays, guesthouses and bungalows and organises treks, mountain biking and kayaking at three difficulty levels. You arrive from Andoung Teuk on National Road 48 by the project’s boat (published at US$15 per person with three or more passengers) or a motorbike taxi (US$8). Activity and room prices are quoted by the project.

What two or three days look like
Arrive at Andoung Teuk around midday and continue upriver by boat, or by motorbike taxi on the asphalt road. Spend the first evening settling into the village. Use the next day for a guided forest trek, chosen at light, medium or hard level, and a third day, if you have it, for mountain biking or kayaking. The project’s guides, boat drivers and hosts are villagers, and visitors book through the community visitor centre.
Why plan it with the rest of the route
Chi Phat is easy once you are there; the difficulty is the sequence: the bus that connects with the boat, the return boat the next morning, and the onward connection to Kampot, the coast or Phnom Penh. That is the part we line up. Step-by-step directions are in getting to Chi Phat.
What to bring
- Cash in small US dollar notes; services in the village are limited
- Walking shoes, rain jacket, torch, insect repellent
What we confirm before you book
- Room type and activities for each day, and their prices
- Boat departure time, which follows the Phnom Penh bus
- Bus times on National Road 48 (the project’s timetable dates from about 2019)
- The project’s payment and cancellation arrangements

These are the facts each provider states on its own website, with the date we read them. Naming a provider here describes it; it is not an endorsement or a partnership.
Questions travelers ask
Can I book Chi Phat directly?
Yes. The project takes bookings by email and phone and through its visitor centre, and recommends booking a couple of weeks ahead in high season. We help when Chi Phat is one part of a longer route with transport to line up.
How comfortable is it?
Simple. Homestays put you in a family house; guesthouses and bungalows offer more privacy. For more comfort in the same forest, consider Cardamom Tented Camp.
